How is it that the media can scream at Cunliffe for not knowing the answer to a John Key lie about Capital Gains tax yet be so silent when Key can’t explain where the money will come from for his joke  tax cut?

Watch Cunliffe on fire smacking down National’s tax cut they have brain farted out as a distraction from the Dirty Politics melee.

The obscenity is that for the price of a BigMac combo tax cut, 250 000 children in poverty have to stay hungry.

The ethics of this to one side, you know National are in trouble when the upper middle class they chase choke on the measly nature of their slice of tax cut. When Vernon Small spits back his offering

John Key must think we came down in the last shower.

After days banging on about the fine detail of Labour’s capital gains tax policy National has released its ‘‘tax cut’’ plan with about as much detail as throwing paint at a barn door.

There is an airy reference to up to $1.5 billion in 2017 aimed at low to middle income earners – roughly what we have known since the Budget – that might amount to about $10 a week.  It amounts to an unknown amount for an undefined range of people, maybe in three years. Call it the first promise of the 2017 election campaign.

The announcement also failed the hypocrisy test. National has included Labour’s tax credits in the Opposition’s ‘‘spending’’, but does not count its own tax cuts as spending.

…National Party strategists start to sweat.

Lowering the second tax rate from 17.5% to 16.5% for a person on $40,000 would give them just $5 a week, in comparison Labour’s thought out total economic package will see $2 extra per hour for workers, plus affordable housing, plus electricity price reforms plus a payment for new families plus no school fees.

National have $5 per week, maybe, in 3 years.

If Cunliffe brings the fire he showed in that stand up with Key on Wednesday, he still has a chance to become PM. The TV leaders debate was watched by far more people than the shitty Fairfax crappy internet connection drunk shouty farce.

The election will be far closer than the mainstream media are predicting.

  1. I always hear swing (National) voters talk about David’s fumbling approach to interviewing and changes of tact depending on the circumstance.

    What? Are you kidding?

I just don’t get why people dislike his political disposition. Better than obfuscating-laugh-it-up beat-around-the-bush-at-the-end-of-the-day-drunken-uncle-Key.

I don’t care if he’s the nice guy who can sit down with me for a beer. He’s the damn Prime Minister—act like one.

This is tough talking David right here—and I like it.

    • If you ask me , mate…..Key’s been sitting down once too often having a damn beer. He looks like a drunken slush and he sounds like a drunken slush and he forgets things like a drunken slush ….maybe thats a Right wing affliction …I dunno….but always seems to kick in oh so conveniently for them….And he acts like a bloody damned drunken slush.

    • Yep. The MSM media spends most of its time in male chauvinist rants against gender equality in politics, Cunliffe’s red scarf, also it rants about how a married man must be ‘sexy’ and appeal to a ‘middle New Zealand’ that hasn’t existed since the 1980s – ever since the righties began their attack on the poor and middle classes to enrich their mates. The MSM want Labour to bring back Roger Douglas and be no different than National, so until Labour abandons its principles and sells its soul to oil and asset sales they will keep lying/mudslinging about Cunliffe and Labour.

  2. If David Cunliffe does become PM after this election and the media can no longer hide how good he is I predict a whole bunch of people being very surprised at what a good job he does -and how statesmanlike he is compared to the previous guy.

  3. That was a good strong interview with our DC.
It is easy to see that he is fully informed, and has a good memory!

    Bless him indeed!

  4. Mark shows a typical national trolls stupidity when it comes to statistics and reality.

Mark also knows a blue tick is now a tick for sleaze, lies, abuse of power and incompetent management.

It will be the decent national voters with proper morals who will help decide this election ( by not voting and cleaning house ), mark is not one of those.

  5. Bad photo to use.
Unfortunately a large portion of people are stupid as well as superficial & don’t want a leader with more than 1 chin.
