We are not the minority.

Don’t. Believe. The. Mainstream. Media. Hype.

There has been a 162% increase on early votes in 2011. If this incredible rate of voting continues – we could see hundreds of thousands’ more voters expressing their will before election day even happens.

The disconnect between the feeling on the ground with what the mainstream media polls are blaring is as disconnected as Planet Key is from reality.

There is a level of unpredictability in this election that means anyone calling it – as some in punditry land have already done so, exceptionally disingenuous.

This election will be won by the opposite ends of the political spectrum. Either ACT and Conservative Party win or Internet MANA win. That’s the stark choices available to NZ when inequality is as steep and relentless as it is. The anger political disconnection and economic distress generates either gets addressed or it creates friction.

Welcome to friction.

    • The Tamaki Makaurau candidate debate was on Maori TV last night. They have taken a poll of electorate and party vote in that electorate. Internet-Mana was polling party vote 12.1% in that poll. The rest of the numbers sounded reasonable for that electorate but I was amazed at the IMP figures.

    • And by the way- has everybody noticed all the thumbs down trolls coming from Whaleoil on TDB lately?……these people are conducting a campaign obviously , …very few submitting comment ,…just simply hitting the thumbs down button….quite humourous really ,

And thats the quality of far Right thinking….says it all 🙂

  1. While I’m very pleased people are voting this comparison is flawed. Early voting at the last election was not encouraged as it is this time. I was not even aware of it and nobody else I know was either. If people had been, there wouldn’t have been such a ton of people at the polls on voting day. I worked at a polling booth on the 2011 election day and it was bloody hard work. Alllll damn day!!

    • a high proportion of early votes and enthusiastic early voting shows voting numbers will be up!…a good sign for the Left coalition WIN!

…and people who vote early can encourage and help others to do so also!

…early voting is a very positive sign!

      • It’s been my personal experience at least, converted my work mate from non voter to actually voting. Also helped my brother switch from National to Greens after discussing dirty politics. All after I early voted (straight labour).

  2. There’s no way National will get over 50 percent of the vote. I’ve got $20 bucks riding on a bet with my manager on that.

    • national couldn’t even muster 48% last time, and corrupt John key and his corrupt national party have done alot of damage since then !!

  3. Well I’ll be out not voting for John Key and his cronies for the 3rd time on election day. Fat lot of good it’s done so far, but I do what I can.

  4. I do know a lot of my friends who are right wingers have voted.
What I can’t understand is if KDC has this game changing revelation on 15 th why is he and his party pushing vote early .
You would think he would want them to wait until then before they vote.

    • well I think the meaning is that the committed should vote now …..and the Left Coalition and Internet MANA will scoop up the undecideds…. after the revelations!

…after all as the old saying goes….”a bird in the hand is worth five in the bush”

  5. Early voting hasn’t been well-publicised but lots of people seem to be finding their way to the few booths that are open. I think that spells trouble for the Nats, although God knows who the early punters are voting for. I voted today – against Key.

  6. This is slightly misleading in itself. 162% of early voters, but a large majority of these people would have voted anyway.

Just because they vote early doesn’t mean they are new voters.

    Deconstructing the Deconstructed Headlines.

    • likely they would have voted anyway …but then again some people are procrastinators and leave it to the last minute ….and then something crops up and they don’t make it

….or they may be undecided and procrastinating making a decision like last time ….but a friend or relative who has already voted makes the effort to discuss issues with them and persuades them to vote EARLY

….really standing in a line on the day with everybody eyeballing you is a big “put off” for some people and the whole day is rather fraught just thinking about it …especially for those with mobility issues, or disabilities, or the elderly, or the less confident, or the young and the restless…and for those with babies and toddlers it may be no picnic….so early voting at your convenience can only encourage a BIG TURN OUT!…

  7. No matter what bribes the current government may be offering, we have an obligation to vote them out, because they’re corrupt. We can’t be having that sort of carry-on in our governments. And all other parties are on notice that voters won’t tolerate that sort of behavior.

  8. Fk John Key promised :

    1) 200,000 new jobs in his first term .

We got a bicycle path that employed 200 people instead.

    2) $200,000,000 is borrowed EVERY WEEK supposedly for ‘welfare’ .

It was used surrepticiously to provide tax cuts for the super rich.

    3) Despite the $200,000,000 borrowed every week , – we have over 260,000 children living at the poverty line.

Meaning that the parents of these children are either unemployed OR the working poor.

    4) Key promises a miserly ‘tax cut ‘ of around $10 per week – IF we can afford that in the year 2017 !!! (compare Labour / Greens / IMP’s policies on this )

    5) Key states National is the party of stability – despite obviously being emroiled in and fighting off the advancing case of corruption levelled against them.

Thier only real viable partners are the Conservatives….or if thier lucky – the Maori party …if thier lucky !!!

Whereas the commonality between Labour ,Greens , IMP , and NZ First regarding asset sales, poverty , wage increases and taxation ,health , and education are far more unified and thus STABLE than the shonkey National partys.

Whatever you do , for whatever reason , whether it be improved financial security for your families , environment, retaining your national soveriegnty , or just a plain disgust at political corruption this election :

    VOTE LEFT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
