The Daily Blog’s August poll has concluded and the September poll has been kicked off, asking readers: What party will you likely vote for at this year’s General Election?

You will see this month’s poll in the right-hand sidebar of the site. (Please note this is a party vote poll not a preferred candidate poll.)

We will continue TDB’s site rolling poll, one poll for each month, through to the General Election. So, this month’s September poll will conclude midnight September 19.

Comparing the results will provide readers an interesting account of how this audience cumulatively accesses each party on merit and performance.

The Results:

TDB-Poll-August-2014As you can see from the graphic (left) the TDB August Poll saw 4125 votes lodged.

The Green Party topped the tally with the largest percentage of site votes ending the month on 29%, up two points from 27% achieved in TDB August poll.

Labour achieved 23% of the available votes in August, that is up two points on the July poll.

The Internet Mana alliance ends the month on 21%. That is down three points from its July result.

The National Party has achieved 17% in August, down one percentage point since TDB July poll.

NZ First finished on 3% for August, up one point since the July poll.

ACT finished on 2%, the same result as it achieved in July; the Conservatives achieved 2%, the same as it achieved in the July poll; The ‘None of the Above’ vote achieved 2%, the same as in July; The Civilian Party finished on 1% down one point from the July poll; The Maori Party finished on 1%; and last was United Future with just under 0.1% with only 9 votes out of a total of 4125.

How the poll works:

So you know, each person gets to vote once for one single party of choice. So choose well.

We have settings that restrict the number of times a person can vote from their personal computer and IP.

That is an attempt to prevent a person voting repeatedly, if we allowed that the results would not give us a sniff of the audience’s view overall.

As the month progresses, you will be able to see how the parties are doing.

If your preference changes over the month, you will be able to reflect this change in your vote in next month’s poll.

For the record, TDB does not claim this poll to be scientific. We run it on TDB as an indicator of the cumulative audience’s political preferences. We also run it over a sustained period so as to reduce the manipulation effect that sudden flight arrivals of audiences pushed here from other sites may have on the results.

  1. Please add Democrats for Social Credit.

They have been polling close to 1% recently, which surprised a lot of people including party members 🙂

  2. 16% and 449 votes for the Internet Mana Party. Behind National for the first time and a smaller proportion than the parties achieved a few months ago as separate parties.

Is this the game changer taking place and was it reported here first on The Daily Blog ?
