…it shows that the NSA were sending an engineer to the GCSB spy base to build a “Special Source Operations” site. These allow the NSA to mass surveil anything they want in a country.
The SSO is the division of the United States’ National Security Agency which carries out cable tapping and has vast resources to trawl and capture massive amounts of internet content and electronic communication, including the PRISM system.
…so at the same time as Key is ramming through mass surveillance powers to the GCSB enabling them for the first time ever to legally spy upon NZ citizens after the GCSB is caught illegally spying on NZ citizens, we have NSA spooks in NZ building the very mass surveillance system that the NZ Intelligence Agencies tell us they don’t use.
This of course is on top of the mass surveillance powers Key gave the NZ Police when they were caught illegally spying on citizens as well. This massive upgrade of spying powers by the Police help explain why we have silently allowed 7 corporate hacker servers to be established inside NZ for the Police that effectively allow them to mass spy on the entire population of the country.
We have allowed the Intelligence communities in NZ to grow at an alarming rate with unchecked powers. The GCSB and SIS have both had increases in budget by 250% and 174% within a decade and Key has reorganised the following intelligence apparatus to answer to a small clique of security goons he controls; the Organised Crime Intelligence Unit, Financial Intelligence Unit, Strategic Intelligence Unit, National Bureau of Criminal Intelligence, Identity Intelligence Unit, Threat Assessment Unit, Police Terrorism Investigation and Intelligence Group and the Special Investigation Group.
NZ has always been used as a test market and I think that the NSA wants NZ to be a the first test country under total surveillance to see how it works in reality. Think of it is a Big Brother franchise you can never get out of.
This isn’t a left wing or right wing issue, no Government should have this level of power over its citizens. The GCSB meetings that were to be held in Auckland Wellington and Christchurch have been scaled back to just one city now. We decided with the big meeting looming on September 15th at the Auckland Town Hall, that we would focus on the one central city we hadn’t visited last time, which is Christchurch.

Yes, i agree, New Zealand is one big testing ground.
I believe John Key is a plant by the US government, with Crosby Textor taking up the challenge and mass marketing him to an entire country. New Zealand fell for it.
Key and National, have in the pass six years, dragged NZ through the mud. Working only for the US, the Chinese and their mates on various boards of big business. Average New Zealanders are paying a huge price in all aspects of life.
This election really is make or break for this fair land.
