Key’s odd personal hypocrisy in Epsom, his kiss of death to the Maori Party and is a vote for NZ First a vote for National?

Aside from tricking Colin Craig into running in an electorate National can crush him in, John Key has announced three things in his election deals that are ill thought out.

The first is his deal with the Maori Party. At a time when the Maori Party are desperately trying to put as much distance as they can between them and John Key’s table, having the PM remind everyone that Maori should vote for the Maori Party candidate and Party vote National is a kiss of death for the Maori Party.

The second is Key’s odd personal hypocrisy in Epsom. Key says that he intends to vote Goldsmith in the electorate but he’s telling every other National voter in Epsom to vote David Seymour.  What’s good for goose isn’t good enough for the gander on the palatial lawns of Key’s rolling estate.

Thirdly it’s Key’s reopening the door to NZ First. This would click in with what Hooton is telling the town, that the next Government will be NZ First and National. If voters think Winston will prop Key up NZ First may lose more voters to Labour than they are losing to the Conservatives.  This collusion with Key could see NZ First dip beneath 5%.

National’s hubris and arrogance is driving this confused and insipid attempt at tactical voting.

  1. Of course NZ First will work with National – Winston wont want to sit behind Metira, Russell and Hone

    • one more round of polls will seal the fate of who is who come sept 22…it might well be a case that a vote for winnie is a last ditch hope that he heeds the curse of 3rd term administrations and looks after his legacy

  2. Winston personally HATES the Greens. I’ve always assumed he’d go with the Tories. The only way he’ll go Left is if Mana/Labour/Green/Internet can get enough to beat the Tories without him.
