Predictable whitewash by IPCA of “Operation Grey” – Grey like the-law-on-this-one-is-a-Grey-area-but-let’s-push-it-for-the-fishing-expedition-we-all-know-it-is-wink-wink-nudge-nudge-meet-you-later-in-the-corridors-of-power-for-a-cocktail-we’ll-have-a-chuckle-about-it-later kinda Grey.

As Russel Norman points out…

“The IPCA did not look at the issue which formed the crux of the complaint, which is, did the Police rely on the wrong interpretation of the law when deciding not to prosecute?” said Green Party Co-leader Russel Norman.

“How can someone go to Court on the issue when a person doesn’t even know if they have been spied on or not?”

“The IPCA, in part of their report, concluded the matter was not for the Police but for the Courts.

“How can someone go to Court on the issue when a person doesn’t even know if they have been spied on or not? The whole process is a catch-22.

“The report gives a green light for illegal spying because the system has set itself up to be impenetrable to inquiries for justice.

“Our Government and intelligence agencies are just dodging a bullet on what has been shown to be a major mess up.

“There is no justice for at least 88 New Zealanders who were spied on. No one has been, and no one will be, held to account.

“The message that is being sent is: if a citizen acts illegally you get in trouble, but if the Government acts illegally, they get off scot free.

Roll on September 15th.

    • That was really funny. Not as funny as Blubber Boy saying that a victim of attempted rape led a would be rapist on to set him up on behalf of Rape Crisis because she’s a lesbian, but you probably think that was serious analysis. Bugger off, troll.

  1. It is time for Carruthers to step down. He has now joined the list of establishment toadies who collude to corrupt the delivery of natural justice, along with Robert Fisher and Kristy McDonald.

  2. I wonder…

    Here’s a scenario…

A Left Wing government takes office. It has two strong left-wing influences from the Greens and Mana-Internet.

The new Labour PM is pressured to sack the current directors of the SIS and GCSB, and replace them with left-wingers.

The SIS and GCSB start monitoring the activities of various rightwing media, bloggers, National Party apparatchiks, et al.

Past files and names of informants are made available to those who’ve been spied on.

Very soon, those on the Right begin to realise that the SIS/GCSB which was once their ally, has now been turned against them. They are now the targets. The GCSB Amendment Act – enacted by National/ACT/Dunne – is now focusing on rightwing politicians, activists, and their fellow-travellers.

And we finally begin to see who, in the media, has been collaborating with National/ACT.

The shrill screams of indignation from the Right are all but drowned out by the laughter from the Left. And the Middle Class begin to realise how they’ve been ‘played’…
