What was most interesting about National in the house today

With so much blood in the water it was difficult to work out what was the water and what was blood, the anticipation of watching a wounded Judith Collins being mauled must have had Parliament TV on the verge of crashing online.

What was most interesting was Key’s verbal counter punches. Normally Key is a master at these devastating laid back ‘get off the grass’ toned BBQ one liners, but today Key was off time and fumbling with banter that was laboured and stupid. It suggests a stress on Key that hasn’t been there before.

This wasn’t Captain Laid Back and the vacant clap-claps, this was Key looking far less sure footed and hesitant.

He looked vulnerable.

Judith Collins sharp response that she hasn’t been banned from Twitter suggests that will be where Lusk and Slater will be advising Judith launch her next verbal assaults from. If Judith starts back at Twitter, it’s a direct challenge to Key and it allows her to communicate directly with National’s rump.

If Judith knows she will be demoted if Key wins, her best hope to be the next leader lies in National losing.

So how will Judith respond?

  1. I am sure this is the obvious view of the left. Do you think it would be the obvious view of the right? You see, the reality is this is simply a game of one trying to score a hit on the other. Anyone who knows anything about politics realises this. But it does provide great entertainment, almost as good as reality TV.

    • You didn’t bother to read the post, did you? I see plenty of people on the right who want Collins to be the next national Leader. How is that primarily a view from the left?
Oh of course – you probably have no idea that was even written in the post above.

  2. Key needs to focus on the big picture, where he is taking New Zealand.

Unfortunately I don’t think he or National really have a plan.

  3. How dare the current PM, tell the incoming PM what she can and cannot do.
It’s entirely up to Ms Collins what she does and does not do on Twitter, with the media and in her private, personal meetings with friends of her husband.
When Key loses the next election, and lose he will, Ms Collins is next cab off the rank. What better politican to re-build the Party?
Get off her back and let her alone, she is doing a great job helipng move National closer to its Conservative allies. We have ousted the “gay rainbow MP” in order to move further to the right and distance ourselves from the centre-left and loonie left that frequent these blogs.
We need people like Ms Collins to cement our agenda after the next election.
Key can’t do it, he has alienated too many, lost sight of the prize, because he has gone soft on sideshows like Dunne, Banks, Dotcom, Smith, and to a lesser extent, Gilmore.
We may not win the next election, but we will re-group, we will return to power, stronger than before. Then we will sell off the rest of the assets, charterise every school, unburdeni the taxpayers with a flat 20% tax at all levels..
This isn’t finished yet, and if we have our way, we will return and instal strong progressive leadership in National and New Zealand again.

  4. I expect to see Judith Collins come out and front-foot it today. Watch out for Tweets. She will not stay defensive for too long.

    I hope so.

Key’s hand will be forced and she will be sacked.

    What are the chances?! *sighs*

  6. The most revealing element of Question Time yesterday is that after Trevor Mallard’s contribution it is now very clear that labour have nothing, have achieved nothing, and have over stated their case from the get go. The tide has turned against labour on this one.

*yawn* Yeah. Sure. In your mind, I’m sure it has.

Meanwhile, back in the Real World, Anonymous ACT Supporter Intrinsicvalue, Collins is days away from stepping down.

And the next Roy Morgan poll will be a joy to behold (for the Left – not you) as the public finally has a gutstful against your party, National-ACT.

Have a Very Nice Day. 🙂
