The majority of the discussion about Judith is that she is ‘unhinged’ and lost her cool.

That’s just not the case, Judith is being far more Machiavellian.

What pundits fail to appreciate is that a large chunk of National Party voters are far more right wing than Key and Judith has huge support from that chunk. If Key fails at the election, Judith is best placed to replace him, if Key wins, Judith gets demoted.

Key is struggling to rein Judith in and scrambling to explain why she should stay because Judiths actions keep screaming that she has no interest in keeping quiet or playing nice. Her attack on Katie Bradford was a dog whistle to appeal to that chunk of National Party voters who hate Sue Bradford and hate the ‘liberal’ media.

Key forcing Judith to stand down for a few days is an attempt to force her off the stage, it’s damage control for a Minister who now only has damage to contribute.

Collins ego clearly shows she doesn’t have the capacity to do anything other than channel Francis Underwood in her own House of Cards paradigm and will do anything to ensure her chances of becoming the next leader of the National Party are alive all the way up until September 19th.

Parliament today at 2pm will be fascinating.

  1. So you are saying that Collins has ‘gone rogue’ – is on her own personal mission now, aimed at becoming party leader? Why is Key so impotent? Or does he simply want her as future leader because ultimately it would suit his own interests?

  2. Loved that Francis Underwood reference – “you might say she is unhinged Marty, but I couldn’t possibly comment”.
    Lurch to the right.
Get rid of Maurice, at the end of the Pakuranga rainbow will lurch National further to the right.
Stand Collins down will move Key closer to the right because of ‘decisive action-man branding’ by the National handlers and Hollow Men.
Leave space for Milky Bar Craig and Three Strikes Whyte to fill the void vacated by Maurice.
The rainbow is taking on more of a blue – purple, yellow tinge.
If only the Internet Party hadn’t stolen Peter Dunne’s coloured worm, all would be well under the long white cloud.

  3. Sadly , until Kiwis riot in the cities and towns , these creatures will continue to play with our lives . This is nothing more than a game to them . No matter the outcome of the various machinations of hideous collins or others , the fact remains . We watch on helplessly as we pay them to behave in this manner .

  4. I thought she was in musth.

Not sure she’s a Machiavelli – hyper-intelligent proto democrat? Not so I’d noticed – more like crude and stupid.

It’s a funny thing, and not the impression you’d get by watching this government in action (or lack thereof), but being a minister is supposed to be a serious role, not an adjunct to an export business. Ministers are supposed to exercise mature judgment – and on our behalf. If they can’t do that they must be down the road.

Key doesn’t understand this because he’s a self-serving sack of shit. He wants to rid himself of Judith because she’s an inconvenience to him – if he wasn’t completely useless he’d want to be rid of her because she’s a disgrace who isn’t capable of doing her job.

    • Musth!!! I think your right, I nearly choked!!!! Something rotten is starting to surface.

  5. So a question, why would anyone want to be the leader of a party immediately after they’ve been dumped from government? I mean, who wants to be the next Phil Goff?

The only reason I can think of is to exact revenge on your colleagues….actually now that I think of it that probably is a good enough reason for Collins.

Or does the faction behind Collins want her there to get their acolytes in place ready for the National comeback in 9 years time? Is this the long game?

  6. Who in their right mind would want a nasty vindictive personality like Judith Collins in charge of our lives.

We retired in Tonga because we did not like where National was taking the country, best thing we ever did, government pays us our superannuation over here and we can live on it not lavishly, but happily.

    • Swift move, Margaret!
I would be interested to know if foreigners are allowed to own businesses, land, and/or houses in Tonga.

    • You mean lower interest rates, lower inflation, lower debt, higher incomes, sustainable growth? What isn’t there to like?

      • Yeah Tonga’s pretty much on the ball – I wonder if they’d do some consultancy work for Bill English – that poor sad bastard doesn’t have a ghost of a clue what he’s doing.

  7. I wonder if part of the reason Key won’t push her out is because if he did it would bring his own relationship with Orivida into question.

  8. this is bad news for us. He should have asked Maurice Williamson to apologise and dumped Collins. No one I know over our side likes her, she is a disaster and some people say Winston is collecting evidence

Thank you, Lolita. Proof that Collins should stay on. If she’s as rabid right as you, that should make National unelectable for the remainder of this decade. Maybe even century. 😉
