Green MP’s 800km taxpayer-funded trip questioned
Questions are being asked about a taxpayer-funded trip for deaf MP Mojo Mathers to be interviewed on a small provincial radio station.

…and who is asking these questions…

The Green MP says the 800km trip on the taxpayer dollar was essential, but a taxpayer group queries whether it was fiscally and environmentally responsible.

…I’m sorry, what – ‘a taxpayer group’??? What taxpayer group?

The Taxpayers Union questioned whether it was value for money.

…Ohhhhhhhhhh. Silly NZ Herald, they mean the hard right astro-turf Taxpayer ‘union’ fronted by Jordan Williams who The Daily Blog has previously eviscerated.

Putting up the Taxpayer ‘Union’ as a legit lobby group when really they are a hard right front group pretending to be a protest group is sad of the NZ Herald and their journalists need to be mocked mercilessly for buying into this joke.

So well done Patrice Dougan, you deserve merciless mocking for using the Taxpayer ‘Union’ as a source.

Why does Jordan Williams and the hard right astro-turf Taxpayers ‘union’ hate disabled people so much? Surely Mojo Mathers is better qualified than Jordan and the Taxpayers ‘Union’ to ascertain the needs of her hearing disability? If she travelled 800km to appear on a community radio station that is one of the few to tackle disability issues seriously, surely that is her right as an MP who identifies with the disable community?

This ill spirited attack by Jordan and his Taxpayer ‘Union’ seems driven by desperation due to a lack of any real traction other than in the corporate media.

How ugly and mean.

  1. How ugly and mean in deed.

MPs travel up and down the country all the time to speak to often small groups of people.

To pick on a disabled member for doing what other MPs are doing too is despicable.

Underarm bowling – cheap and out of ideas.

    • yes, would the “Taxpayers Union” be upset if Bill English went all the way to Dipton to address the Southland Branch of Federated Farmers (just a hypothetical example)? probably not because English represents the decent right side of the political scrum rather than being a useless commie greenie like Ms Mathers (I’m being sarcastic here, don’t worry!) Jordan Williams is just a ………… (the term here rhymes with the word anchor)

  2. In all fairness it was the right wing Herald who ran the story and asked Jordon to comment on a green MPs travel.
It does seem like a lot of carbon in all fairness.

    • in all fairness i dont think you have the slightest idea of how a smear campaign run by you usual array of proxies works

  3. But when Key spends tens of thousands to travel to the US to play golf with Obama – that’s “OK”, I guess?

Silly me. I thought the Taxpayers “Union” would be all over it.

And why isn’t ACT all over the Taxpayer’s Union?! I thought they were opposed to Unions?! What gives?

Damned inconsistent these right wingers. They’re all over the frickin’ place.

    • Key was on a private holiday that he paid for when he played golf with Obama, he is also so stinking rich he donates his salary to charity and pays his wife’s travel costs when on official business. There are many avenues to attack Key but personally rorting the taxpayer ain’t one of them.
More than one meaning of the term union Frank 🙂

      • “so stinking rich he donates his salary to charity ”

prove it then – you cant, its a stupid myth perpetuated by love struck fools

Dont you think if key did actually do this the nats would be shouting it from the roof tops?

      • Key didn’t pay for all the bodyguards he took with him though did he? This story about Key donating his entire salary to charity is simply not true – He stated at the time that he gave a “portion” of his salary to charity – A “portion” could be anything from 10 cents upwards. A portion is very different from the whole salary.

    • ACT doesn’t have any policies that state Unions should be dismantled or people shouldn’t have the freedom to join. Just that they shouldn’t get any state sanctioned special treatment.

      • pfft – doesnt mean they arent oppossed to workers unions though does it

and frankly – if your going to try an claim otherwise or use semantics to wriggle out of it you probably also believe in fairies

just drop that one gossamer – its pathetic, even for you

  4. Do either of the members of the Taxpayers’ Union actually pay taxes? There is something absolutely despicable growing in the Kiwi character when the Herald and NAct voters think attacking disabled people is acceptable behaviour. And as for whatever Key pays for – he could have paid the consultants for the theft of our assets out of his own pocket, but he thought we should pay for that. Mojo’s trip was something positive – the consultants we pay to tell us being on a benefit is worse than heroin addiction isn’t.

    • Are you suggesting people break the law by committing a physical assault on someone just because you disagree with his political views? Hmmmm… looks very much like the modus operendi of the hard left.

      • Yep, that’s exactly what I’m suggesting. Under no circumstances whatsoever should you assume or infer satirical intentions to my post. I’d elaborate further, but internet’s sketchy out here in the Crimea, and I’m about to earn my pay on the ground by gearing up to crush skulls for the glory of Putin.

  5. I think the issue is that a Green MP is travelling thousands of kilometres in a carbon spewing death machine pouring tonnes of global warming carbon pullushun like an open sewer (to quote Al Gore) just to make a few minutes of airtime on a radio show for deaf people.

By the way, the BBC give a discount on the TV licence to blind people. Not a lot of people know that

      • Are you suggesting people break the law by committing a physical assault on someone just because you want a discount at society’s expense? Hmmmm… looks very much like the modus operendi of the hard right.

      • Nice play on “Andys” words, Gosman, I didn’t realize you had a sense of humour…you were joking, right?
Reminds me of the famous Groucho Marx line…”Last night I shot an elephant in my pyjamas and how he got in my pyjamas I’ll never know.”
