Who in God’s name is advising Shearer? Is it Steven Joyce? It must be Steven Joyce.

I think that Shearer is a national party plant. John Key and him must be in cahoots, I could not be this removed from reality without huge amounts of drugs and alcohol so surely he means to be doing it! Why do so many seemly incompetent people get to these positions and why is the much more suited person for the job out of the picture? Did the GCSB have a hand in getting him in the top job and getting rid of the other David, who is a true labour party values representative with an understanding of the real people?(the working or not man/women)I don’t even want to mention the difference in intellect which is huge. to me it looks like one David wants a job and one David wants to serve the people of NZ.

David Shearer reflects Labour values. The only thing in Labour’s favour is that they are less right-wing than National. This does not actually make them a socialist party that wants to see all members of society treated equitably.

On this occassion, Farrar and Slater have just cause to accuse these Labour MPs of hypcrisy.

The actions of the Labour MPs and the leader to attend Sky City’s corporate box at Eden Park is beyond belief.
The current Labour MPs and their leader’s ability to continually shoot themselves in the foot must be mana from heaven for Key and his wicked henchmen/women, the abhorrent Salter and Farrer and the MSM media. Clearly Labour has lost interest in winning the 2014 election. The Working Class and the Poor have been badly served by a party that should be representing us. I despair!!!
If you change the way you look at the issue, you would not see someone shooting themselves in the foot, which makes no sense.
Instead, you see corporate placemen who are doing a very good job to ensure Labour either gift National another electoral victory or they themselves follow neo-liberal policies themselves.
I’ve been rather disappointed with Labour lately too but no matter how much I try to see hypocrisy in this I fail to see it. To me the hypocrisy begins when gifts from Skycity influence their vote and they give Skycity special treatment as National have done.
But if someone can point out the actual hypocrisy I’d be happy to change my view.

Damned, what more proof do Labour members and supporters need to wake up and finally ditch this man? This is topping it all off, what his “best performing MPs” were up to, and what Shearer feels he has to say to it, days after!
Does anybody believe Shearer? Is anybody convinced this is a man who could lead Labour and with that an opposition into an election win, ever? If anybody is still giving Shearer some time and credit, and thinks he can lead Labour to form a government, then I believe that Julia Gillard will lead Australian Labour to a landslide victory in the coming elections there.
Truth is, Labour is in part – that is a fair number of their MPs, just as bad and on friendly terms with big corporates, including Sky City, as the Nats are! This has been so for a long time, and it is time to wake up to the reality in this country.
Those MPs were not there by coincidence, and they knew full well what they were up to, and they could not have cared less about what facade they try to pretend when holding speeches against the vice of gambling, about the shoddy deal Key and his government are trying to finalise with the casino operators. It was just damned bad luck, that it somehow has come out.
I think that a lot of supporters and potential voters of certain Labour MPs would be shocked about whom their MPs socialise with, and how they are on friendly terms with personalities in big business and also senior media people.
That is part of the damned problem of the Labour Party members sitting in caucus, that is a fair number of them. And these ones seem to be the very ones that supported Shearer to become “leader”. Surely Shearer must have known that at least Goff was there, and enjoyed the treats offered by Sky City.
Also did Shearer enjoy the company of NZ Rugby, and he apparently went to the other “box”, to meet someone he knows well, who was there with his MPs.
Not a good look, and that “in hindsight”, yeah right, tell the truth David Shearer.
I will not vote for your party ever again, unless a clean-out happens, which needs to be pushed for from the lower ranks. Forget your election campaign strategies, if you ever had one. This is shameful, and trying to “reason” the way all the MPs involved are doing, that is not convincing at all.
National is loving it, and one must bloody wonder, who is running affairs in the background and within Labour these days? Is David Farrar or Matthew Hooton now your main advisor and promoter?
The Greens may be heading for 20 per cent soon, having tens of thousands leave Labour for them. And Mana may finally move towards the 5 per cent support, with such embarrassment surfacing. That is if there are not enough disillusioned, competent Labourites leaving and finally setting up a much needed new left of centre party, without the old baggage from three decades of neo-conservative, or neo-liberal “laissez faire” economics and social demontage that is still too present in parliamentary Labour.
It’s only a. disgrace if you gave Labour credibility to begin with! Oh Dear!
