If we want progressive change, we need progressive candidates to provide the political vision that can spark leadership.

student-vote-democracy-word-cloudCongratulations to Marama Davidson and the Greens for appointing a candidate of such quality, dignity and intelligence into the Ikaroa-Rāwhiti by-election.

She joins John Minto’s tilt for Auckland Mayor, Aaron Hawkins’ Green candidacy for Dunedin Mayor, Efeso Collins’ run for local body elections, political candidates Sue Bradford and Stuart Nash, alongside serving representatives Julie Fairey and of course the deputy Mayor of the Super City, Penny Hulse.

It is with some pride that The Daily Blog has so many contributors willing to participate in the democratic process. If we want progressive change, we need progressive candidates to provide the political vision that can spark leadership. Their engagement should be celebrated and supported in the hope that it inspires others to find empowerment in universal suffrage.
